About the Role

We are looking for qualified, high-performing individuals to join one of the leading BFSI sector company in Sri Lanka. We are seeking an AS400 Systems Engineer to anchor the support and evolution of our core payment infrastructure and mission-critical systems.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

• High-level understanding of Card/Payment System architecture and the end-to-end transaction lifecycle.
• Solid understanding of the critical nature of HSM (Hardware Security Modules) and Key Management within a high-stakes, secure payment environment.
• Manage PTF (Program Temporary Fix) cycles, support IBM i OS upgrades, and firmware updates (WebSphere/Java) in collaboration with vendors.
• Oversee and execute production deployments to ensure minimal downtime.
• Resolve complex transaction failures and identify application performance bottlenecks within the payment switch.
• Manage MIMIX replication issues with vendor coordination and oversee backup/recovery operations using physical tape drives.
• Manage HMC (Hardware Management Console) and LPAR configurations, lead Disaster Recovery (DR) drills to ensure data integrity.
• Provide Level 2/3 on-call support for daily End-of-Day (EOD) batch processing issues.

Experience & Qualifications

• A degree or equivalent professional qualification in IT, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in AS400 system support, preferably within the banking sector.
• Practical experience with IBM DCM (Digital Certificate Manager) and WebSphere Application Server (WAS).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication skills. A proven track record of building strong professional relationships.
• AS400 development experience with RPG, RPGLE, and SQLRPGLE is a significant advantage.
